Metal Buildings Or Metal Horse Barns For Your Horses & Ponies February 21, 2008

Horses and ponies need metal horse barns that are clean, dry, and protected from the weather. Besides being shelters for your horses and ponnies, the metal horse barns should be providing large amounts of room for storage; animal feed, hay and equipment.

You can choose to build your shelter from scratch or check out FutureSteel that specializes in steel buildings and metal shed storage buildings. Here are some recommendations for design should you decide to build a metal run-in horse barn.

* Place your horse barn in an area that will not flood.

* Place the back wall to the prevailing wind.

* Position the shelter so it is well away from gates or fences. This means cleaning is easier and there is plenty of room for horses to get in and out.

* Design it large enough that all of your horses can stand and lie comfortably in it and bossy horses will not be able to completely ban the underdogs from entering the shelter.

* Consider making the entrance large enough for a tractor bucket to get through for easy clean-up.

* Be sure the ceiling is high enough that a horse will not be able to hit its head, even if snow drifts in at the entrance.

* If the structure is permanent you may decide to put concrete, brick or paving stone flooring down. This makes cleaning easier. Earth flooring is easier on the horse’s legs and may be warmer.

* Some structures can be noisy in the wind. Construct your shelter securely. A noisy tarp roof, or loose metal siding might discourage horses from using it as well as present a safety hazard.

* If your design doesn’t already include it, consider putting eavestrough over the entrance. This way icy patches will not be formed at the entrance from water dripping off the roof and you and the horse won’t be surprised by cold trickles of water as you go in and out.

Move Back To Home In Gopeng Or Ipoh ? January 20, 2008

Life is definitely full of surprises. Honestly, I couldn’t take it properly this time. I am so stressed out now.

Hubby was recently assigned by his long-time buddy to be a Branch Manager at one of the oil palm estates. These two weeks, unpleasant incidents happened between two of them, especially about salary and allowances that his buddy promised earlier. Apparently, his buddy didn’t deliver what he insisted that he would fight for hubby.

Yesterday, hubby made up his mind to quit his job. I am worried because quiting means there is no income from hubby’s part.

Meanwhile, my income online has dropped to less than $1,000 a month recently. I stopped my classes in Cameron Highlands after hubby decided to work for his buddy. So, I have no income from tuition classes at all.

We are supposed to move to the new place next week. Now, I guess we have to move back either to our own home Ipoh or old house in Gopeng.

If we move back to the old wooden house in Gopeng, we have to see those buddies of my neighbor who are drug addicts again. I just wish that they could be sent into any drug rehab center so that I don’t have to see them.

Hubby and his brothers inherited a wooden house in his home town. Recently, they talked about the plan of tearing down the whole house and rebuilding it with natural heavy timbers. I will be thrilled to death if they build an elegant and yet rustic looking cottage….;P

They would like to hire Vermont Timber Works that specializes in designing, building and framing custom timber house, using natural heavy timbers, custom crafted post & beam frames and glue-laminated timbers. There are several wood species for the timber frames such as Douglas Fir, Eastern White Pine, Native Hemlock and Native Red & White Oak that.

For centuries, timbers have been widely used because timbers can withstand harsh weather. Besides that, Chinese have this belief that heavy timbers denote firm foundation of family relationship and business, thus bringing prosperity to family members.

When it comes to buying house, the Chinese are very particular about safety and good feng shui. Living in a good feng shui house not only brings health, but also wealth to the family. Think of the money spent on buying and renovating the house ! Who wants to live in a bad feng shui house ? No way !

My hubby and I did follow a bit of feng shui before making the final decision. Our house in Ipoh actually has very good feng shui because of its spacious living room, dining, car porch and kitchen.

If hubby is confirmed with his partnership with his buddy, there is possibility that we may move back to Ipoh….;D I think I have had enough living in Cameron Highlands. 5 years ! Time to move to a new place.

If you are a home buyer looking for some home buying feng shui tips, check out the National Feng Shui Congress 2007, which will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Sept 29 and 30. The congress, organised by the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics, will be hosted by Yap.

My hubby’s decision to be his buddy’s business partner is in fact a great relief. This is because we will have extra income to pay off our credit card debts. Imagine getting extra $5,000 to $10,000 monthly !

If everything goes on well, that means hubby will go back to our home in Ipoh as it is near the palm oil plantations and rubber estates. Hubby said we may have to put the plan of selling our home on hold. It’s fine with me. After all, I love this house very much.

One of the main reasons that we bought this house 5 years ago was because of the custom designed and hand crafted ceiling beam kitchen. According to the previous owner, he had a soft spot for timber beams, therefore he had his kitchen, dining room and living designed and renovated with unique timber beams.
