As a longtime camping enthusiast, I have made sure our family has done lots of camping together. Over the years, I have learned, mostly by trial and error, what works and what doesn’t in a camping environment with kids. So, if you want to have a good family camping trip, here are some tried and true methods to make camping fun and rewarding.

Come Prepared. Besides your campsite, the best predictor of family camping success is the level of your preparation. The Boy Scout motto of “Be Prepared” really has a place in the camping world. Your basic camping gear and equipment for any outdoor experience should include at least the following:

* First aid kit – well stocked and replenished
* Tent with rain fly and ground cloth
* Sleeping bags with appropriate rating for temperature
* Camping mattresses, cots or foam pads
* Rain Gear—especially light-weight ponchos for everyone
* Flashlights
* Extra batteries
* Camping stove and fuel
* Camping lantern and fuel
* Camping cook set including can openers
* Water carriers
* Waterproof containers
* Sunscreen
* Insect repellent
* Camping cooler

Why Employers & Job Seekers Prefer Online Resume And Application February 27, 2008

Why do employers prefer online job applications? Employers prefer online resume and application submission for several reasons. With online submissions the amount of paper in the office is minimized. Opening mail, filing and resume retention and the problems with resume retrieval for subsequent positions are eliminated. Even the space necessary to store paper resumes is a problem in many offices.

From the job seeker perspective, online employment application systems work well. Applicants can apply online for specific jobs such as positions  at any time that is convenient for them, with just a few mouse clicks.

At larger employers, and on many job sites, job seekers can keep track of the positions they have applied for. There’s no need for printing, copying or mailing and applying online saves on postage.

In addition, it’s faster – applicants can apply online, resumes can be reviewed and interviews scheduled very quickly. For example, a buddy of mine was called within an hour of emailing her resume for one of the risk management jobs. She was interviewed the next day and offered a position the day after. If she had mailed her resume it would have still been in the mail.

We don’t have serious natural disasters in Gopeng, but we do have power outages from time to time. If power outages happen at night, we really need our rechargeable flashlight so that we can endure the outage in safety.

Besides flashlights, here are other examples of products that you should have handy in the case of an emergency or power outage. They are battery-operated fan, emergency radio, shake flashlights, first aid kit and bulk batteries.

Several of these items, wrapped in in one big box, would make a thoughtful housewarming gift!

This morning while having breakfast with my hubby’s niece, she told us that we could consider selling jewelry and accessories at the comfort of our home.

She just came back from China and had some contacts of manufacturers who can supply us jewelry and accessories in bulks at very low prices.

My eyes were wide open and jaw dropped when she told us how cheap we could get the jewelry in bulks. Imagine if I import women’s jewelry and religious jewelry in bulks and sell them to my buddies, neighbors and students! The exponential profits I can make from women jewelry and religious jewelry to pay off my debts fast are just irresistible.

4 Simple Ways To Lose Weight February 19, 2008

Living on one pea per meal won’t stop an expanding waistline. Try these 4 small changes that really work ! Well, they work for me…;D

1. Go Slow. Many of us bolt down our meals like there’s no tomorrow. So you could be eating more than you need, as the body takes about 20 minutes to register that it’s full. To help control your weight, try going slow and really concentrating on the flavors and textures of your food.

2. Downsize Dinnerware. Often, we finish everything on a plate even if we’re not hungry.So, learn to practice portion control. Serve yourself in the kitchen and leave the serving dishes there. If not, you’ll be tempted to have seconds. Also switch from using 10- to 12-inch dinner plates to 7- to 9-inch lunch plates.

3. Water’s Best. The next time your fingers wander to the cookie jar or snack drawer,have a glass of water instead.Research shows that many of us mistake thirst fro hunger. Drinking water can fill your stomach and make you less likely to overeat. Plus, it helps ketones, the by-products from the breakdown of body fat,to be excreted through the urine.

4. Get Your Sleep. Lack of sleep affects the levels of leptin,the hormone that makes you feel full,so you’ll end up craving fatty and sweet foods. Worse still, sleep deprivation will affect your body’s ability to burn fat and repair muscles, plus you will find it tough to exercise.
